Carluke Arab News 2009

10 December 2009-  Wow it's that time again!!

November came and went like a blur - We took Smokey out to SEAHAC for a trip he came home with a fourth and looked lovely I was very impressed with him as he has started to become accustomed to the life of a show horse took it all in his stride. Debbie got some lovely pictures of him, see his page. The judge remarked on his awesome movement.

Next show up was Dandenong, the next weekend and we took Caspa back after last years efforts. Alas this year it wasn't to be she was first at the wrong end in a lovely class of mares. Although it was lovely to he Belinda and Her Yehaa my Atlanta win this class she is a lovely young mare and a young chestnut Jayay colt went Supreme congrats Peter.

We then followed this up the week later at Catani and took Caspa again Kylie came down from Bendigo for the show and as we went through town remarked that she was very pleased that she had not brought one of her horses with her - The weather was atrocious ... But we kept going - Catani this year was very well supported and it was lovely to see so many Arabs.  Supreme which was sponsored by Carluke went to the beautiful Sharinga Kharamia Congrats Jason and Julie she deserved her win.  there but the weather took it's toll by 11.30am it was bucketing down and we had approximately 30 mls for the morning. There subsequently were a lot of wet cold ponies. Luckily purebreds were on before the down pour and by that time Cas was safe and warm in her float.

But as the debut of Baylees first foals show we stood by in the rain to watch his yearling son take home a Reserve Champ against much older competition - he looked a treat and performed very well considering the weather. He was a real credit to his breeder Deb Yeo. Sadly we couldn't get a photo to show you just how beautiful he is becoming but we should be able to soon.

Since then we have not had a show but been preparing for Christmas, also preparing Tia to be bred and we have brought caspa back into work under saddle. Baylee has had the flu and is just getting over it so we will put him back to work over Christmas. The boys have been turned out to be happy growing lads again much to there delight - Smokey and Robbie are still both available so if your looking for your next saddle horse let us know. Cheers for now -

17October 2009 - What a weekend in Bendigo!!

After last years experience with Caspa on the Bolte bridge this year we were hoping like mad to avoid any disasters of that nature.

This year poor Vicki from ronvale got only a few k's out of Bendigo before she busted a radiator hose - No worries unload her horse pop it on another float call racv - continue with weekend :D

On the way home, we managed to do the bearings on our float ... so after locating Kylie McKinna a lovely friend in Bendigo she thankfully came and saved bugger from the float in the dark and off loading him at some appropriate and lovely agistment. Kylie, Brad, Damon, Vic and Bec I can't thank you enough for helping me in my time of need :D

Ahhh the joys of going to distant shows .... hahahaha.... can laugh about it now ... We will be returning next year ...lol... just to see mainly what can happen next time around!! hehehehe....

But all in all it was a great weekend Baylee the bugger came home with Res Champ Purebred Stallion on Saturday and Champion Stallion on Sunday. We met a lot of lovely people who were very complimentary about our bugger, we would like to thank them all, it's people like you who making showing horses fun :D

Vicki and Becky also had a great show by taking reserve Champ Intermediate purebred hack both days with Show n' Shine (Taaj) I believe apart from best trot under saddle and a whole lot of other wins ....They had a great weekend

They had the lovely Viv with Cricklewood Impact (Grey) it was only there second show together and what a show they had!! Placing well in just about all the classes they entered!! Congrats ....

Sarah Mcinnes was there with her new baby anglo Limited Edition of Cheveaux (Eddy) Sadly they didn't escape from the wars either and the start of their trip was eventful - Thankfully  they made it in one piece and eddy had a lovely show and learnt heaps took home a few ribbons, but the poor lad was so tired by the end of the first day Sarah opted to take him home.

Anna and Jon were also there from Ajay Arabian ponies, and it was lovely to catch up with them, and their very lovely ponies - Although let this be a warning to anyone potentially camping in the vicinity of this couple. Ensure before you put a tent up that you know how to do it, otherwise these guys will be entertained for hours .... hmmmm....lol...

All in all a huge thankyou to the fabulous GV committee once again for a great show we look forward to next year :D

Yay a break for another 3 weeks before SEAHAC yay!! can't wait Smokey's first show for the season and he has improved heaps over winter - can't wait to get him out :D

Delwyn Moss took some great pic's of Baylee the Bugger can't wait to get them to share with you all :D

17 September 2009 - Well the year has just about past and show season is about to kick into gear again. We had a very quiet winter for the horses, which I think they all enjoyed. The two young geldings are growing well and are both at about 15hh+ now. We are starting to think about breaking them in as they will be 3 in December.

Rose has been leased to a lovely lady and left in August. The place is very empty without her, but I hear regularly about how she is going, so we are crossing our fingers to hear very soon that she is in foal.

Debbie Yeo, Kylie Mckinna  and I recently travel up to Violet Town to meat Sharyne Rawson and see her beautiful horses. We met the very impressive Bremervale Invincible. Vince as he is know is a full brother to the well performed and beautiful Desperado and the lovely Bremervale Hercules. Vince himself was no slouch in the show ring and proved himself not only in halter but was extremely successful himself under saddle. He also has some stunning and very successful children, which we also had the pleasure in meeting.

Baylee has a couple of outside mare coming in to visit him so next season will be very exciting for us. Debbie has been so impressed with her colt by Baylee that she has once again entrusted us with the lovely Missy (although this time we have strict instructions for a filly) Next month we also expect Hilary Ogdens mare.

Our next show will be Goulburn Valley weekend Maz and her crew put on a fabulous and very social show. It's a great weekend away.

25 April 2009 - Well we have been back from the Australian Champs now for some time but we have been busy catching up on farm work and the like, that had been left on the wayside since getting ready for the show. Although we didn't come home with any ribbons, what a great time we had. Catching up with friends and showing the horses. Pictures can be seen through the various pages. There are alot of people I would like to thank for there invaluable help and none more then my niece Corinna who - although has helped me at a smaller show it was a bigger jump to strapping 4 horses at the Aussies and she worked hard. Also Debbie Yeo, for showing Tia for me and helping prepare the mare and Vic, Bec and Josh from Ronvale who were lovely enough to cook for us (VBG). Also congrats must go to Kylie Mckinna who showed Nihal Silluette to several top 10's and a Res Champ - Way to go Auntie Simba!! Wohoo!!! Kylie was a little excited to say the least - So were we .... We had soooooo much fun at the Aust Champs - We can hardly wait for the next show season to tick over !! - Think the horses can though - they have all been turned out for a well deserved holiday.

We took part in the Fire and Flood stallion service auction to raise money for Project Hope to help care for those horses and there owners that have been caught up in these terrible events. Baylee's service has been purchased by Hillary Stephenson, after chatting with Hillary this is so  going to be the longest 16 months ever!!! We are very excited with her plans.

We have also decided to lease out old Rosie. As  we can only keep very limited numbers at home we have decided to breed Tia this year due to ongoing hormone issues and as such rosie has been adopted out to a lovely home where she will also continue to do what she loves best.  It will be very lonely here without the old girl but we know that she will receive the very best in care and attention in her temporary home.

On a sad note Cheryl Clegg has let us know that sadly Ahmaja has passed away and then only with in days Sweet Meadows Sandman has sadly been PTS. The passing of both of these charming boys is tragic and our thoughts are with the ones that loved them.

15 February 2009 - Sitting back after a big weekend - Baylee went to Korumburra Show today and came home with Res Champ open bred stallion and Champ Led Arab. Again the comments from everyone were just lovely Baylee is such a pleasure to take out to shows. We also went the day before hand to take Caspa in local Galloway halter class which she won - This little lady is a true show pony and the only time she switches off in the ring is after a pat she is almost always foot perfect.  It was also lovely o catch up with a number of people we haven't chatted to in ages... Well that's it for the shows until Aust Champs ... Yay ... on official count down now!!

We also went and met the Fabulous Cheryl Clegg and her partner Phil a couple of weeks ago an met the sublime old Man Ahmaja - What a front this old boy has - Don't often see such structure today and he still had an impish twinkle in his eye's and is obviously the apple of Cheryl and Phil's eye's. There herd of mares too had some truly amazing individuals amongst them, including a lovely young daughter of Ahmaja.

We would also like to send our condolences to those that have lost loved ones in the recent horrendous firestorms which have left all of us reeling with despair and sadness for those survivors who are suffering beyond comprehension. Our thoughts are with you.

18 January 2009 - Yay we got a picture back of Smokey from the Gold Medal Show in December 2008 and have added it to his page. Went to Visit Vicki at Ronvale to see her new Cremello Stockhorse Stallion his a lovely boy with a great temperament. Looking forward to next weekend as we are going to Visit Cheryl Clegg and meet her beautiful old stallion Ahmaja (imp) her turns 32 this year hopefully we will be able to get some pictures of this wonderful old gentleman.

11 January 2009 - Well tis a new year and the Aust Champs draws closer getting very excited about that. The four horses will be brought in to full work in a couple of weeks (although caspa is already and going very well under saddle to now)

I took Baylee out yesterday to Wonthaggi agi "B" class arab show for a look around and came home with Champion Arab and 1st in his registered stallion. Baylee's behaviour was impeccable and I was so proud and happy for him. We got alot of lovely comments about him which was just lovely. We came home a little earlier than anticipated as he still hasn't learn't that he can pee in public places and was starting to look a little uncomfortable.

On the 3rd of January Debbie and I took a trip up to Tyres in Gippsland to visit Miglander Pinto Arabians to see a mare that I use to own Nihal Spellbound she is looking very well and is very much loved so was a very happy trip. They have hopes of breeding pinto partarabs from her and have a nice young  arab stockhorse from her so I hope to see more from her in the future.

Apart from that it will be a bit quiet for us for the next few weeks until February which will be our next show - Just need to work out who I am going to take.

7 December 2008 - well as per usual it has been more then busy around here but thankfully we are about to start to slow down for the Christmas period, a good thing because then starts the final tuning for the 4 horses that we are heading to the Aust Champs. Smoke went to his very first two shows yesterday The Gold Medal shows and came home with a Reserve Champ and  Champion Junior Gelding. The young lad is now very please to be back home and with his mate Rob. We also went to Yarra Valley Arab with Debbie of Cheveaux park a fortnight ago to help her show her delightful derivatives (The Anglo Jag and pony filly Penny). Then we backed it up the next day and took Caspa to Catani Ag show (graded Arab show). Cas came second but enjoyed her day out and is becoming more of a show pony each outing. So our next outing looks to be early January to give us some time to do some more saddle work on Caspa and look at giving Baylee some saddle education. See caspa's file as we finally got some lovely pictures back from Delwyn Moss taken from her Goulburn Valley outing. Looking at her now it's actually quiet remarkable the difference in the young lady. Another very special thankyou goes to Debbie of Cheaveaux She has made Caspa and Tia the most Devine show a halters especially for them, although caspa has already made her mark by wearing tia's halter at Dandenong to a win I can't wait to use there own on each of them!! They are truly beautiful.

10 November 2008What a weekend - After catching up with Vic of Ronvale and seeing all her pretty ponies and catching up with the Debbie and the grandson (yay!! more pictures) Saturday we took Baylee out to SEAHAC Show - he won Stallion 4 -6 years and Best Headed. The next day we decided to take Caspa to Dandenong Ag Show (graded arab show) to come home with Champion Arab Mare - Very busy, tiring but fabulous weekend. Looking forward to our next shows in a fortnights time ...

30 October 2008 - WOOHOOO

27/10/08 We welcome Baylee's first baby boy "Nova by Cheveaux" From Debbie's delightful Arabian Riding Pony mare Ferrari Miss. What a beauty he is too.

Photo's taken at 1 day old can't wait til we see this little boy fill out and strut his stuff! Once again we would like to thank Debbie for showing so much faith in our boy as a sire and look forward to their adventures. Debbie said she hopes to show young Nova as soon as possible. Something that we can't hardly wait for either.

26 October 2008 -  It Has been a very long time since any updates.

We took Caspa to Goulburn Valley on the weekend of the 11 & 12th of October. considering we only had three weeks to prepare her she did very well (tia had an abscess which we were hoping would heal in time) She came home with 2*2nd in her mare halter class and 1st Egyptian related. The poor girl had a hell of a time before even getting to the show grounds though. Lucky I had the lovely Vicky from Ronvale Arabians with me for support as my car decided it was tired on the off ramp for the Balti bridge and then another couple of times further down the road my beautiful girl stood on the float like a dream during peak hour traffic never flinching. What a good girl - so instead of travelling 4 hours to Bendigo it took 6 hours!! Apart from the trip up, the weekend was a fabulous one. We went up with Debbie from Cheveaux park, Belinda from Yehaa Arabians and her mate Sarah and Kylie (who owns a half sister to Termite - Caspa's mother) and her partner Brad and son Damian came over to see us and we all had a lovely dinner at the RSL (on a side note omg!! how good is the RSL in Bendigo fast and excellent service, great meals!!) and the lovely Cheryl caught up with us on the Saturday!! After an exhausting weekend we finally made it home to Gippsland at 1.30 am on the Monday morning to say Cas and I were a little tired was an understatement I don't think Cas has ever been so happy to be home!!

Monday saw the Gelding of Smokey... So hopefully you will see him out in the show ring very soon. We have entered a few shows over the next couple of months seahac and Dandenong being the next two and we can't wait.

On a side note, sadly Kat has had to part with Essy due to a housing shift. But Essy has now been Purchased by Sharyn Boyd of Posie De Arabians. I believe that she is going to be broken in for her children to ride. Goodluck luck with her Sharyn.

Baylee's first foal is due any day now and Missy is apparently huge!! we are crossing fingers for Debbie that all goes well with the birth.

Well as I have a number of tubby saddle horses - I best be out side working them - good luck at the shows.

10 June 2008 - Well the last month or so has been very sad around Carluke - We said Good bye to our lovely Nihal Renata ( a resident since 1993) aka Termite  -the mother of Caspa (Carluke Eva-After) and Smokey (Carluke Renato). Termite has gone to reside with the fabulous Debbie Yeo of Cheveaux Park Arabians. We also said goodbye to the lovely Taloumbi Lodge Caress - Essy has travelled to Nagambie to live with a very good friend Kat Lock - I believe Kat's looking at showing essy after she has been broken in so looking forward to catching up with both of them real soon. In light of the above we have decided to take Caspa off the market and look at bringing her out undersaddle this year.

4 April 2008 - We took a couple of the old girls out to a Gymkana down the road on 30th of March - Tia was being shown by my very good friend Kat Lock - Kat had never shown a horse in halter before so tia was the perfect school master for her to learn with. Essy also came out for a jaunt. Essy showed like a trouper and was Reserve Champ Led Galloway and Tia was fourth in the same class. After that we came home to kick back. Haven't had enough time of late to do much saddle work with the kids but reakon will have to knuckle down real soon.

26 March 2008 - Finally we saw the start of a show season again yay!! Well done to all the competitors, organisers and Judges at this years Diamond Show Case. We took Baylee to his first ever show and wow what an eye opener it was for the boy and for us. We could hardly believe how well behave this lad was at his fist ever show. The lovely Debbie Yeo kindly handled Baylee (AKA Bugger) for his first two classes Best headed which he won and then Classic Trot which he was Top Five. Then later I showed him in his colt class for Top Five - It was a very strong field of colts and was very impressed in the way in which he performed. Just needs a little more experience (and conditioning) under his belt to really shine. The next day he capped it off with Champ Egyptian related 2-3 Colt so was a brilliant show for  the young fella who almost didn't make it due to a paddock injury only weeks before hand. It was lovely to catch up with so many people and we are looking forward to showing him further nest season.

20 January 2008 - As of the 18th of January we would like to introduce to you the newest member of the Carluke family - Sabre

Sabre comes to us via the lovely people at South Gippsland Animal Aid.

2 January 2008 - Welcome everyone to the new look website. Not a lot happens around here especially at the moment with no shows but at least were pretty easy to keep track of!!

If you look in on us every now and then, we update pictures when we get a chance.

We have had no babies due this season and are not planning on any for next season, this means we can finish of the saddle work on a couple of the girls and look at getting Carluke Bay-Ali (Baylee) broken in over winter.

Baylee has covered his first girlfriend and we are crossing fingers that she is in foal. Missy is a Arab Riding Pony mare with the most incredible movement, and she has a double cross to AK Sir Halima.  We would like to thank Debbie Yeo in showing so much faith in our young chap and look forward to seeing the results all going well. Stay tuned and we will keep you all updated.
